Rudy Mueller lives in Indianapolis with his wife of 57 years, Jeanne, and his four-year old English Setter, Carly. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War. Soon after he returned, he and Jeanne left Louisville, their hometown, and moved to Indianapolis for Rudy to attend graduate school at Indiana University School of Social Work, and they stayed there. Rudy retired from the United Way of Central Indiana in 1987 as Vice President, Admissions, Allocations and Agency Relations.
Rudy is very involved with alumni activities of the University of Louisville where he volunteered his time for many years as a scout for the football team. The University of Louisville Alumni Club in Indianapolis has established and endowed a scholarship in his name.
But, Rudy's main interest is Fox Company. He organized the first Fox Company reunion, held during the 5th Division reunion in Chattanooga, in 1988 and 72 men attended. Reunions are now an annual event. Rudy has now accounted for every member of Fox Compnay. He writes and distributes Scoop, the Fox Company newsletter, four times a year and produces a yearbook for each reunion.
Rudy is also recognized for his research capabilities, keen attention to details, and his vast knowledge of World War II history. Specifically, he is recognized as an authority on the battle for Iwo Jima. He is universally recognized as the historian for Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 26th Marine Division. His research contributions for "The Quiet Hero" were vital to its completion.
